Ko tō tūranga – your role

Join our dynamic Underground works team as a Cable Jointer/Line Mechanic and be part of a friendly, tight-knit group that values safety, teamwork and customer excellence.

As a Cable Jointer/Line Mechanic at Counties Energy, you play a vital role in ensuring the safe and reliable delivery of Underground and Overhead electrical services across our network. Your work includes underground cable installation, maintenance, jointing, and rigorous testing, You'll uphold our commitment to safe work practices, environmental responsibility (Kaitiakitanga) and comply with legislation, while identifying and managing hazards to support our safety culture.

From the smallest fixes to large scale projects, you pay a key part in exceeding customer expectations through quality workmanship and exceptional service.

Ability to participate in afterhours roster is required.

Ōu pūkenga - What will you bring?

  • Ideally five years’ experience working as a Cable Jointer or Line Mechanic within NZ based electricity businesses.
  • Current EWRB Cable Jointer or Line Mechanic practising licence.
  • Electrical line mechanic CPR/BFA course.
  • Electrical safety – EWRB competency course.
  • High level of competency operating truck mounted cranes and elevated work platforms.
  • Pole top rescue experience.
  • EWP rescue experience.
  • Understands and practices the principles of zero harm.
  • Calm, professional temperament with ability to cope in pressured environments, maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and colleagues in challenging situations.
  • Take part in the Fault Response when required.
