Ko tō tūranga – your role
We’re searching for a practical and people-focused Senior HR Advisor to join us fixed term for 12 months to cover maternity leave. Ideally, we are looking for the successful candidate to start mid-June 2026 so you can get to know us and to allow for a solid handover to take place.
You’ll join our tight knit, down to earth, respected and knowledgeable Safety, Culture and Sustainability team. This role is right in the heart of the action – delivering our people strategy and partnering with leaders across the HR remit of recruitment, development, employment relations, culture, engagement and everything in between.
In this high trust role, you’ll bring solid NZ HR experience, know your way around employment legislation and take a proactive, people first approach. You’ll be comfortable ‘working in the grey’ and bring a solution focused approach. You’ll quickly build great relationships at all levels and play a big part in shaping a positive, inclusive and high performing workplace where both leaders and employees thrive.
You’ll also lead, coach and develop our HR Coordinator and First Foundation student. If you like variety, you’ll have it here!
Ōu pūkenga - What will you bring?
- 7+ years’ experience in generalist HR roles, including 3+ years in an advisory or business partnering capacity, within New Zealand based medium to large organisations (essential).
- Extensive working knowledge and high-level understanding of New Zealand employment legislation and HR best practice (essential).
- A New Zealand recognised tertiary qualification in human resource management, employment relations, organisational psychology or related discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a broad range of employment relations matters and provide confident, solutions-focused advice to leaders.
- Ability to apply sound independent judgement, decisions and develop solutions and approaches appropriate given the situation, policies, guidelines, best practice and legal requirements.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, work autonomously, and lead or coach others.
- Experience working in electricity distribution, transmission, generation or utilities-based organisations would be advantageous!
- High levels of discretion, professionalism, and emotional intelligence.
- Technically competent across HR systems, Microsoft Office; experience with HRIS platform ELMO is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
